The Anderson Public Library Board of Trustees seeks an energetic, enthusiastic, creative leader, dedicated to providing superior Library service to the residents of Anderson County. The 2020-21 budget for the Library is approximately $1.3 million. The Library provides computer and internet access, wireless service, genealogy research, and outreach and programming for all ages in a recently expanded 22,000 sq. ft. facility.
Lawrenceburg, in Anderson County, is a quaint and historic town nestled in the heart of Central Kentucky. The area, rich in history and hospitality, make it an ideal place to call home. At the heart of this community is the Anderson Public Library. The Library’s Mission Statement: Inspiring Curiosity - Fueling Imagination - Building Community, defines the Library’s purpose and guides the five-member Board of Trustees who govern the Library and its policies. All operations are overseen by the Library Director.
The lifestyle and traditions enjoyed by the 22,000 residents of Anderson County are celebrated every year with community gatherings such as the Stave Fest and the Burgoo Festival. There are many great outdoor activities including hiking, fishing, and camping. Lawrenceburg is also home to the world-famous Wild Turkey and Four Roses Distilleries, where every year, thousands of people tour the Bourbon Trail. Nearby are the State Capitol and the Kentucky History Center, while just a short drive away are Kentucky’s largest cities, Lexington and Louisville.

The Director of the Library implements policies and projects and provides leadership for improving public library service to the community. In accordance with policies and goals established by the Anderson Public Library’s Board of Trustees, the Library Director is responsible for all administrative aspects of districtwide services, staff, facilities, and operations.
Primary responsibilities include providing leadership and direction in the development of short and long range library plans; advising the Board of Trustees on library issues; implementing and monitoring policies approved by the Board; administering the library’s fiscal program; overseeing human resource management, including recruitment, employment, compensation, and performance development; coordinating the planning, development, and management of the library's program of service; serving as principal spokesperson and advocate for the library; overseeing physical facilities and equipment; and ensuring full access to library materials and services to users of all ages.
This position requires a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school and multiple years of progressively more responsible library, supervisory, and leadership experience. Other preferred qualifications include knowledge of public library needs and services, thorough understanding of library trends, experience in providing sound fiscal planning and management, ability to establish effective working relationship with community members, and excellent interpersonal skills. Strong technology skills required.
