Dozens Register for Library Cards During Sign-up Month

Just two weeks into National Library Card Sign-up Month, dozens have registered for a library card at Anderson Public Library and hundreds more have used their cards at the library.

According to APL assistant director, Alison Morgan, 36 new members were registered starting from September 1st.  Another 494 members used their cards this month to check out or renew items at the library.

For the 30th National Library Card Sign-up Month, APL has been celebrating with staff dressed in super hero costumes as part of the DC Comic’s Teen Titans theme.  They have been encouraging card registrations with prizes and give aways as well as a chance to have new member’s picture taken in a large library card frame.

“Bring in your kids, your family, your friends! Let’s try to get over 50 new members for the month!” Alison said as she explained that they will be at this year’s Anderson County Burgoo Festival from September 22-24.  They will be giving out library cards which can then be brought back to the library to receive a prize.
