We are celebrating National Library Week from April 8th to the 14th and are highlighting why families love the Anderson Public Library:
For many Anderson County families, the Anderson Public Library is a place for family time. For the Johnson family, the library has almost become like home.
Thomas and Laura Johnson started visiting the library when their daughter, Emerson, was very young. Emerson attended the children’s story times with Sherry Noon, the library’s Youth and Family Services Manager, and loved every program.
The children’s programming staff became like family to the Johnsons. Now with three children, including Emerson, Eliza, and Everleigh, they routinely attend story times and summer reading programs.
In addition to the fun children’s programs, the Johnsons also visit the library to help with their children’s educational needs. Because they home school, Laura explained that they are able to check out books and use educational computer programs to add to their curriculum. “They love to come and get on the computer to use ABC Mouse,” Laura said.
They are also very pleased with the newly expanded children’s area of the library after the major expansion process last year. “It’s amazing,” Laura said. “I love that there is so much of a focus put on the kids and kids’ programs.”
