So You Want to Climb your Family Tree?
June 30, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 10:30 am
An event every week that begins at 9:00 am on Saturday, repeating until July 28, 2018
Are you interested in finding out about your family history and climbing your family tree? The Anderson Public Library is now offering two sets of free genealogy classes for anyone interested in learning more about their family’s past.
Titled “So You Want to Climb your Family Tree?,” the classes will help attendees discover what makes their family unique, special, and downright interesting. The first class of each set will be an introduction to genealogy and will help guide the later classes by allowing the teacher to tailor the class to the participants’ research needs.
The last class in the set will cover taking genealogy to the next level with DNA testing. Attending all classes is recommended to have a complete understanding of the information being presented.
The classes will be taught by two local genealogists: Brenda Adams Hume and Sharon Pike. Brenda is a native of Anderson County and is the registrar for the Frankfort chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She has also served as a volunteer genealogist for the KY state chapter and also serves as the coordinator/webmaster for a number of KYGenWeb and USGenWeb counties, including Anderson.
Sharon Pike is an avid local genealogist. Utilizing multiple resources, she has traced her family heritage back to Jamestown, Virginia, in the 1600s. She is an expert of a number of resources available to researchers at the Anderson Public Library.
Two sets of classes will be offered. The first set will be on the following Saturdays: June 30th, July 7th, July 14th, July 21st, and July 28th from 9am to 10:30am. The second set will be on the following Mondays: August 20th, August 27th, September 3rd, September 10th, and September 17th from 6pm to 7:30pm.
Space is limited to 10 participants for each set of classes and preregistration is required. Please call the library at 502-839-6420 or visit to register.
