July 11 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 11:00am on Wednesday, repeating until July 18, 2018
Join us for a fun, musical themed summer reading program for 2018! Lots of great shows and entertainment provided. Register at the library.
There’s lots of fun programs planned for grade schoolers (K – 5th grades). The following events are planned for every Wednesday (except July 4th) from 11am to Noon during Summer Reading:
June 27th: Damsel with a Dulcimer – Rachel Lee Rogers of the Kentucky Humanities Council will be playing Jean Ritchie, who was a renown Kentucky musician and poet. Credited as the “Mother of Folk,” she will play her mountain dulcimer, highlighting many Kentucky folk songs.
July 11th: Rocking Out: The Art and Science of Sound – Sponsored by the Living Arts and Science Center, this program will have attendees learning with hands on sound discoveries like making water jump with a tuning fork! They’ll also play a variety of instruments and much more.
July 18th: Musical Petting Zoo – Bluegrass band, Lafferty Pike, will feature a fun musical petting zoo. Have fun listening to the band of four sisters and a mom play and show their instruments to everyone attending the show.
Free food for lunch for those under 18 that are registered participants of Summer Reading will be provided by the Kentucky Department of Education, Kentucky State University Extension SNAP-Ed Program and the KSU Summer Food Service Program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
