Tired of having to pay to listen to music or be interrupted with commercials on the radio? With just a few clicks away, you can be downloading and listening to a wide variety of great music, and you only need a free library card.
Offered as part of the many freely available digital services at Anderson Public Library, Freegal allows library members to freely stream or download music from their catalog of over 13 million songs. Their catalog covers over 200 genres and includes 600,000 popular artists including Adele, Bruce Springsteen, Carrie Underwood, Céline Dion, Elvis Presley, Harry Styles, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Johnny Cash, John Legend, Meghan Trainor, One Direction, P!nk, Pearl Jam, Pitbull, Pink Floyd, Santana, Usher, Willie Nelson, and many more.
New songs that are released under the 40,000 labels, including the entire collection of Sony Music Entertainment, are added at the same time that they are released through digital music services like iTunes. New content is also added daily.
Music downloaded from Freegal will work with any MP3 device and can be kept forever. Streaming works with all computers and Android/iOS devices with the Freegal app. Even music videos are available for download.
All members of the Anderson Public Library can enjoy the service by going to the Freegal site and entering their library card number and a 4 digit PIN they set when signing up for their library card. They can then stream up to 3 hours or download 5 songs a days, completely freely.
