The Anderson Public Library is extremely proud to announce that Youth and Family Services Manager, Sherry Noon, received the “Miss Pickle” award yesterday for outstanding children’s services from the Kentucky Public Library Association.
The award, which is given to showcase excellence in developing and providing children’s library services, was presented to Sherry as part of the KPLA Spring Conference in Lexington. Starting in 2000, the award was started to honor Wanda Brown, former children’s librarian in Meade County. Through the years, the award has highlighted an elite group of children’s librarians throughout the state.
“I was surprised and so thankful just to be nominated but to actually win for Kentucky Public Libraries is pretty cool,” Sherry said in response to receiving the award. “I’m very thankful for good directors I’ve had and just thankful to be apart of Anderson Public Library.”
Library director, Pam Marks, also added, “All of us at the library are extraordinarily proud of this well-deserved recognition for one of our own. Sherry is committed to building relationships with young families in our community and works long and hard to create literacy based programs that encourage life long learning. Congratulations, Ms. Sherry!”
