National Library Card Sign-up Month was a major success at the Anderson Public Library this year with 68 new members registering during the month of September, and nearly 900 members visiting the library in that time.
“We are very excited that 68 new members joined the library during the 2017 National Library Card Sign-up Month,” assistant director of the library, Alison Morgan, said. Of the 68 new members, 55 were adults, 10 were children, and 3 were teens.
For the 30th National Library Card Sign-up Month, APL celebrated with staff dressed in super hero costumes as part of the DC Comic’s Teen Titans theme. They encouraged card registrations with prizes and give aways as well as a chance to have new member’s picture taken in a large library card frame. They also encouraged library use at the Anderson County Burgoo Festival, talking with 292 people.
“If you didn’t get your card this month, not to worry, you can get a library card any day!” Alison said as she explained that 872 members visited the library in September with many being life-long members.
