Using different online sites can be tricky to find information, but with the help of a brand new service at Anderson Public Library, members of the community will be able to find what they’re looking for faster and easier.
Called Niche Academy, members can access tutorials for many popular digital resources at the library as well as many social media websites. According to assistant director, Alison Morgan, some of the many tutorials cover services like Overdrive, Freegal, Mango Languages as well as Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram and more.
“These public-facing tutorials provide members with skills from basic to advanced, through videos and training sequences, some with quizzes and follow-up materials, for some of the most popular web-based services and resources that libraries use every day,” Alison explained.
In addition, Alison said that they are able to create custom tutorials for library staff: “We are also looking forward to creating some exciting in-house tutorials for staff on some of our internal processes, to allow them to offer better service to the community.”
Members can access Niche Academy easily on the Anderson Public Library’s website by clicking on the Tutorials button on the right side of any page on the website or by going to the Digital Resources page (you can directly access Niche here). As more tutorials are added to the academy, the library will announce their availability.
Businesses can also benefit from using Niche. According to Alison, local businesses can contact the library to register employees to learn about particular resources while providing attendance tracking and progress of training of employees.
