The Anderson Public Library would like to wish Rob Bird and Lexi Thompson, the library’s summer interns, a great new school year as they return to college.
Through the summer months, Rob and Lexi have helped with different areas at the library. Rob focussed on helping members check items in and out at the main circulation desk as well as assisting with the public computers. He also helped go through the family files in the Anderson County/Kentucky History Room, making sure they are correct and organized.
Rob decided to intern at the library because he always enjoyed visiting. “For as long as I can remember, I’ve always come to the library when I was little,” he said. “I’ve always found it a comfortable place.”
Going into his sophomore year at Georgetown College, Rob is planning to major in English. He hopes to one day be a college professor.
Lexi helped with the numerous children’s programs that were held during Summer Reading 2018. She also helped create a murder mystery party for local teens at the library.
Explaining why she interned at the library, Lexi said that she enjoyed working with kids. She also felt that the experience will help with her career in biomedical sciences in which she is majoring in at Eastern Kentucky University.
Although they both are summer interns, they said that they plan to continue to intern at the library on the weekends when home from college.
